I know I'm late to this party, but I just have to say that as a music lover the combination of music blogs, Pandora and Lala is amazing. Project for 2010 that I'm starting one month early: monthly playlists in Lala that bookmark the songs I've been listening to / discovered via music blogs & Pandora, purchased at the end of the month.
Update: case in point, SFJ just posted his best of 2009 list.
Will 2010 be the year when streaming services finally start making a dent in the iTunes empire? Apple's support for social integration with itunes is pretty abysmal. For example, you can "twitter" from the iTunes store but it feels really disjointed and spammy, and almost no one uses that feature. that I know of.

I think streaming services might make a dent, but it will be a small dent. The user experience of iTunes is still the simplest / easiest if you have an iPod / iPhone. With retail it's all about location, location, location, and they have some pretty great real estate.

Grooveshark has been my workplace headphone feeder for quite a while, just started playing with lala.
lala wins for ease of purchase of new music and social networking/music discovery features, but the one time play limitation and inability to share music that isn't already in the lala DB seem like significant drawbacks when compared to grooveshark.
But I'm weird, my ipod doesn't have anything on it but MP3s because I refuse to install itunes on my PCs and use it as a harddrive player.

Oh, cool -- I haven't tried Grooveshark. Will check that out. (But now I'm off to just stream some Hype Machine for the afternoon...)

Oh, snap, and then TechCrunch reports Apple is in talks to acquire Lala. Do Apple executives read this blog, I wonder?
