Saw these Polaroids posted outside a local coffee shop this afternoon, and lamented the fact that I can't buy a simple Polaroid printer that takes my digital photos and prints perfect (or near-perfect) replicas of Polaroid snapshots. So my happy-go-lucky coffee partner pointed out that Polaroid just released the PoGo printer which is precisely not what I was thinking about.

Polaroid tried with the P-500IR, which took digital photos from a CF card and printed them on Type 500 polaroid film. (the size/shape used in Joycams, not the readily available 600 film, of course)

So, it can be done. And could be done much better as the p-500ir is kind of a piece of crap.
There was also a printer in Japan back in the late '90s that did a similar thing, but again, not the right aspect ratio/film size. Type 89 or 667 would be awesome.
Maybe the Lomo People will realize the market and license the technology from Polaroid since Polaroid seems to be oblivious to the huge market they're ignoring.

A polaroid camera looks great for a journalism class or if you do fancy printing services as a hobby... I don't have that keen eyesight so I'll pass on this.
