And now for something completely different, Hershey announced yesterday that they're buying Berkeley-based Scharffen Berger. I'm anxiously awaiting the Berkeley City Council measure that will officially condemn the sale of the gourmet chocolatier to corporate shills that exploit children by selling them non-organic snacks laden with refined sugar and saturated fats.
I haven't been on the Scharffen Berger tour, but I hear there may be a chocolate waterfall involved.
This is going to break my Scharffen Berger-loving wife's heart. :-(

It is so not April 1st, and hence this is is horrible news. Maybe Hershey will change the way they do everything. They had better leave Sharffen Berger alone, my mid-winter fresh truffles rely on their product to get me and my friends through the rest of winter. The bittersweet and the best fresh organic heavy cream I can find are two required ingredients. These get me back to the memories of the Cocolat stores in the Bay Area and their fresh winter truffles in the 80s and early 90s.

Is it just me or does everybody think of that Volkswagon "fahrvergnugen" song when they see the sharrfen berger name. ok, it's just me i guess.
